1930's Aubergine Goddess Gown | VINTAGE

1930's Aubergine Goddess Gown | VINTAGE

1930’s Vintage. Aubergine-colored sheer gown. Unsure of fabric content, but feels like rayon chiffon - smooth and lustrous. Beautiful bishop sleeves and v-shaped waistline. Decorative buttons up the front. Layers of ruffles at the neck. Zipper closure at the back of neck and side. Snap closures at the wrists.

Mel’s Notes: The color on this 1930’s gown is like anything I’ve ever seen - so ethereal. It’s definitely a dress you should float down a grand staircase in.

Label: unlabeled

Condition: Appears to have replacement zipper closures that were perhaps originally snaps. There is underarm discoloration (almost like a fade to deep Burgundy) and fade down the sleeves (which looks like an ombre effect) - both of these issues are only noticeable in bright light, and I don’t find they detract from the overall beauty of the garment. There are a few small holes in the sleeves that get lost in the folds of fabric, as well as a few small holes near the hemline. The price reflects these flaws, but the dress is still utterly stunning and wearable.
